Wunsiedel Coat of Arms

The shield is quartered. The 2nd and 3rd quarters are counterquartred into silver (= white) and black. The 1st and 4th quarters display a black Gothic initial "W" in a silver field. The shield is topped by a silver helm, crested by a golden (= yellow) dog's head and enveloped by red and golden (= yellow) scarves. The 1st quarter in the greater arms is rotated that way that it is slightly bendy.
Meaning:
The first seal was made around 1340. Prints exist since 1386. The showed the greater arms of the Zollern kin. The current pattern first appeared in 1394. The first coloured image dated from 1581. The fourth seal from 1482 was the origin of all further reproductions. It displayed the dog's head usually golden with a red ear and golden and red scarves. This version was confirmed in 1927 by Bavarian government. I don't know, when the ear was replaced by a golden one.
