Symbols of Cuevas del Valle

The flag and arms of Cuevas del Valle are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 13 November 1995 by the Provincial Executive and published on 13 December 1995 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 237 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, with proportions 1:2, crimson. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: Shield in Spanish shape. Gules a chestnut proper fructed or fimbriated argent terraced vert surrounded dexter by a goat saltant argent horned sable sinister by an ewe saltant argent. The shield surmounted with a Royal Spanish crown.

The Royal Academy of History recognized that the proposed coat of arms features the most salient sources of income for the municipality: a chestnut, a goat and a sheep. The display of the charges is adequate and compliant with the traditional models. However, the colours are not adequate: the green tree lacks contrast when placed on a red field. it is recommended to use a field or and to represent the animals proper. The amended coat of arms would be "Or a chestnut vert fructed of the first on a base of the second surrounded dexter by a goat proper and sinister by a sheep proper. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown.
There is no objection to the adoption of the proposed flag.
