The port of Hondarribia (Basque) / Fuenterrabía (Spanish) is located in the Spanish Basque Country, facing Hendaye, which is located in the French Basque Country. "Diario Vasco" reports that a groups of Basque alpinists have hoisted the flag of Hondarribia on the top of Aconcagua (6, 962 m, Argentina) on 30 December 2006.

There is no picture attached to the article and no hint on the design of the flag. The coat of arms of Hondarribia, as shown on the official design, is:

Quartered first or an angel proper second argent a lion rampant or third argent a ship proper on a sea vert and argent a whale sable harpooned fourth of the same tow mermaids proper an escutcheon azure a castle argent surrounded by two mullets or.

The whale recalls that Hondarrabia was in the past an important whaling port, as were other Basque ports that portrays a whale in their coat of arms (Biarritz, Hendaye, Guétary, Getara)
