Presentation of Valdetorres de Jarama

The municipality of Valdetorres de Jarama (4,225 inhabitants in 2014; 3,352 ha; municipal website) is located in the north-east of the Community of Madrid, 40 km of Madrid and 30 km of Alcalá de Henares.
Valdetorres de Jarama belonged to the Community of the Town and Land of Talamanca, until granted in 1563 the status of villa by King Philip III.

The flag of Valdetorres de Jarama (photos, photo) is crimson red with the municipal coat of arms in the middle. The flag does not appear to have been officially approved.

The coat of arms of Valdetorres de Jarama is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 29 November 2012 by the Government of the Community of Madrid and published on 19 January 2013 in the official gazette of the Community of Madrid, No. 16, p. 8 (text).The Municipal Council submitted on 27 April 2010 a proposal of modification of the coat of arms.
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Per fess, 1. Or an oak vert on waves azure and argent surrounded by two wolves sable, 2. Vert a Latin cross or on waves argent and azure. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown.

The coat of arms of Valdetorres de Jarama was originally prescribed by Royal Decree No. 3,297, adopted on 13 November 1981 and published on 12 January 1982 in the Spanish official gazette, No. 10, p. 684 (photo).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Per fess, 1. Or an oak vert on waves azure and argent surrounded by two wolves sable (Garnica), 2. Vert a cross or on waves argent and azure. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
