Symbols of San Juan de Aznalfarache

Municipality of San Juan de Aznalfarache in the Province of Sevilla, Andalucia, has its own symbols, approved by the General Secretariat of Local Administration on 13.09.2024.

• Coat of arms:
  Description: "The quartered design of the shield is maintained, as well as its use of the colors of each of the quarters and the symbol that is represented in them, very much in keeping with the history of the town.
  - The upper left of vert (green #009349/340C), with a gold castle reminiscent of the one that presided over the municipality;
  - The upper right field of gules (red #e41517/1788C), with the cross of Saint John or of Malta, which honors the Military Order that reconquered the town;
  - The lower left one, in gold (yellow #fdc500/109C), with the waterwheel that recalls the industrious past of the town while referring to its relationship with the river;
  - And the lower right, azure (blue #006bb5/285C), with the olive tree that reminds us of the former agricultural wealth of the fields of San Juan de Aznalfarache."
  Meaning: The castle represents Hins-Al Faray (Castle of the Lookout), commissioned by Almanzor, from which the name Aznalfarache derives. The quartered shield with the Maltese or St. John's Cross represents this military order, which conquered the town and castle from the Almohads. The waterwheel commemorates its industry, and the olive tree symbolizes the agricultural wealth it once possessed.
  
• Flag:
  Description: The municipal flag basically maintains the design that has been used historically. It is rectangular with proportions 2:3, divided diagonally into two equal parts. The upper triangle is blue (#006BB5 / 285c) and the lower one is yellow (#ffee00/102C). In the center of the flag, the municipal coat of arms.
  NOTE: The original text: "... In the center of the flag, the old coat of arms is replaced by the proposed new coat of arms ..." suggests that there was similar flag with the old coat of arms.
