Introduction

Grimm is a TV series. We poor normals can't see the various mythological creature races of the Grimm world, who are called Wesen, as they really appear, unless we're a Grimm or they wish us to see them. But they are all around us and living amongst us.

Wesenrein

In the TV series recently appeared banners of a factious Wesen extremist group called the "Wesenrein," who were apparently against the diluting of the purity of the various mythological creature races.

A friend of Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), a homicide investigator of the Portland Police Department and the Grimm, by the name of Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), who is a Wieder Blutbad, was captured and faced a mock trial because he had married Rosalee (Bree Turner), a Fuchsbau. Monroe was brought before the Wesenrein tribunal, who were complete with Klan type robes, wolf-like masks, and very familiar "wolfsangel" rune prominently displayed. This ancient German rune is historical and was a magical means to frighten away wolves. It is also known as the doppelhaken or "Wolf's Hook."The episode was titled "Tribunal" and first aired 23 January, 2015.

The symbol on the "Grimm" banners is a variation on the Neo-Nazi werewolf symbol. The choice of symbology provides some insight into the personality of the "Wesenrein" on the show. They were Klan-like extremist, racist and violent fanatics, especially with their choice of clothing.
