Carcassonne Agglo (113,463 inhabitants in 2018; 106,220 ha; 83 municipalities) created in January was established in 2002, as Communautés d'agglomération du Carcassonnais, by 16 municipalities. Another four municipalities joined in May 2002, one more in June 2004, one more in April 2009 and one more in January 2010. The name of the authority was changed to Carcassonne Agglo in April 2011. In January 2013, it incorporates another 50 municipalities: the former Communauté de communes Cabardès-Canal du Midi, all but six municipalities of the former Communauté de communes du Canton de Lagrasse, all but one municipalities of the former Communauté de communes du Haut Minervois, the former Communauté de communes du Minervois au Cabardès, and three more municipalities from other former authorities.
The flag of Carcassonne Agglo (photo) is white with the authority's logo.
