The municipality of Montreuil-Juigné (7,521 inhabitants in 2018; 1,381 ha), located 10 km north-west of Angers, was established in 1973 as the merger of thr former municipalities of Montreuil-Belfroy and Juigné-Béné.
Tr&ecute;filerie et Laminoir du Havre (TLH) established a rolling mill on the Montreuil-Belfroy dam about a century ago. The rapid development of the Pechiney factory in the 1950-1960s fostered the urbanization of the town.
