Presentation of La Neuville-Chant-d'Oisel

The municipality of La Neuville-Chant-d'Oisel (2,282 inhabitants in 2018; 2,183 ha) is located 20 km south-east of Rouen.
Chant d'Oisel, lit. "bird song", was first mentioned around 1240 as Cantus Avis; the village was founded in the 12th century in a clearing of the Longboël forest.

The former flag of La Neuville-Chant-d'Oisel (photo) was white with a shield-like emblem featuring a nest with a couple of birds and a motto reading "The bird song softens life's bitterness", and the name of the municipality written in & narrow serif font below.
