The municipality of Mantes-la-Ville (20,499 inhabitants in 2018; 606 ha) is located 50 km west of Paris.
Mantes-la-Ville is located at the confluence of the Seine and the Vaucouleurs. The Paris-Rouen railway line separates Mantes-la-Ville from the larger municipality of Mantes-la-Jolie. The A13 highway heading to Normandy also passes through Mantes-la-Ville.

Flag of Mantes-la-Ville

The flag of Mantes-la-Ville (photo) is white with the municipal logo adopted in 2009. Beforehand, the flag (photo, photo) was yellow with the former municipal logo.
The notes featured on the tow logos recall that Mantes-la-Ville is home of two world-renowned manufacturers of wind instruments, Buffet Crampon and Selmer.
On the present-day's logo, the motto "Un accord durable" plays on the two meanings of "accord", "agreement" (general) and "chord" (music). On the previous logo, the motto "Mantes-la-Vie", nearly homophone to "Mantes-la-Ville", reads "Mantes-the-Life" (vs. "Mantes-the-Town").
