The municipality of Saint-Jean-de-Monts (8,668 inhabitants in 2018; 6,225 ha) is located on the Atlantic coast.
Saint-Jean-de-Monts is known for the sand beach stretching on more than eight kilometres, offering at low tide a great area for walkers, fishermen, and beach games. The town is split in two parts by a pinewood stretching from north to south along the coast, the downtown east of the cordon, and the seafront settlement west of it.
