Presentation of the PASOK

The PASOK (Πανελλήνιο Σοσιαλιστικό Κίνημα) was founded by Andreas Papandreou in 1974. It succeeded the Panhellenic Liberation Movement, which was active during the Colonels' junta. The PASOK won the legislative election for the first time in October 1981.

Flag of the PASOK

The flag of the PASOK is green with a white rising sun and the party acronym ΠΑΣΟΚ placed below. A flag with the opposite colours (white with a green sun) is also used by the party's supporters. This flag would be more suitable for the party since its emblem is "a green sun" but the party itself always uses the green flag with the white sun.

Thanos Tzikis, 16 April 2004

Flags with a new variant of the sun emblem, with golden disc and green rays, are currently being introduced (photo, photo). On white flags, the party name abbreviation is green and there are white ornaments along the hoist and fly edges. On green flags, the inscription is white, green ornaments are on white stripes along the hoist and fly edges and there is a white border added to the emblem.

Tomislav Todorović, 27 October 2013

The PASOK adopted a new emblem (presentation) on 3 September 2012. The sun now has seven rays instead of nine and they are "transformed" intο a cogwheel.
