"פרויקט תגלית" (English: Discovery Project) colloquially known as "תגלית" (English: Discovery) (romanized as Taglit), also referred to as "זכות אבות" (English: Patriarchal right) and even known as "Birthright Israel" is a not-for-profit educational organization that sponsors free ten-day heritage trips to Israel, Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights for young adults of Jewish heritage, aged 18–32 in order to strengthen ties of the Jewish Diaspora with its homeland. It has its roots as far back as 1994 although it was formally established in December, 1999 and the first trips were conducted in 2000.
