Official website at <www.mzion.org.il>. However, without any information about the symbols.
Ma'oz Zion was established in 1951 in order to provide permanent residents to the population of Ma'abarat HaKastel temporary residence. Mevasseret Yerushalayyim (a.k.a Colonia) was established in 1956 as agricultural settlement.
HaKastel is situated at the center of the Local Council and got its name from the ruins of Crusaders castle on it summit. It was a strategic point during the battle on the road to Jerusalem, and a scene of bloody battles. Today, it is a national monument. It also can be seen at the emblem, together with the main road to Jerusalem (today Highway 1).
Photo of a blue flag can be seen at <www.mevaseret.net>.
