The Flag

The flag of Yakushima town is white with symbol. The town was founded on 2007 from merger of the towns of Kamiyaku and Yaku.
Tomislav Šipek, 29 March 2013

The town emblem and the flag were adopted on Oct 1st 2007 by Notice No 1 and No 2. The white flag has a green, a light green and a blue three color town emblem in the center. The town emblem is a stylized Y of Yakushima. The green color stands for the earth and Mt. Miyanouradake, the blue color for the Pacific Ocean. The emblem depicts an island floating in the sea. It represents an image of the people enveloped with an abundant nature who respects an eternal nature, and the historic culture and makes a leap forward into the future.
The flag proportion is 2:3. The height of the emblem is 3/5 of the height of the flag.
