Located in Kyoto City Kyoto Prefecture and established in 1949.
The embroidered ceremonial flag has purple background with a gold color emblem in purple fringe.
The university flag has purplish blue background with a white emblem and white kanji university name written horizontally. (Source)
The emblem of the university is the Chinese character 大學 for "University" on an apricot leaf, which was the family emblem of the birthplace of Honen Shonin, the founder of the Jodo sect of Buddhism, on which the university's founding principles are based. Based on the spirit of Buddhism and the founding principles of the Jodo Sect, the university's flagship mission is to nurture human resources who will contribute to the welfare and cultural advancement of the world.
