Located in Kobe City Hyogo Prefecture and established in 1949.
The embroidered ceremonial flag has purple background with a gold and silver emblem and vertically written silver kanji university name gold fringe.
The university flag has purple background with a white emblem and horizontally written in white Kanji university name.
The emblem was adopted in 1933 by selecting a bellflower, a medicinal herb, as the symbol of the school and combining it with the letters KPF (German abbreviation for Kobe Pharmazeutische Fachschule für Frauen). After its promotion to a university, the school continued to use this emblem with the letters KPF (in this case, an abbreviation for Kobe Pharmazeutische Frauenhochschule), but in 1994, with the introduction of a coeducational system, KPF was changed to KPU (an abbreviation for Kobe Pharmaceutical University), and the current university emblem was created.
