Located in Nagoya City Aichi Prefecture and established in 1949. The embroidered ceremonial flag has navy blue background with a gold and silver emblem and silver Latin motto HOMINIS DIGNITATI(For the Dignity of Man) above the emblem in gold fringe. The university emblem is a chain with the kanji word "大學" and a cross placed in the center of the wing. The creative word of God which gave birth to the earth and guides it through its pains of rebirth finds its central symbol in the cross. Suspended between heaven and earth, the World announces life through death to the self. The community of man upon the earth, an unbroken circle of mutual dependencies in which each contributes to the strength of the whole, is seen in the symbol of the chain. Its end is its beginning and its differences its unity. The ideals which men impress on their times through literature, art and law attest to regions of the human spirit forever untrammeled by personal failures, national egoisms and cultural barriers. In the symbol of the wings we see the pursuit of quality as the eternal urge of man to transcend himself.
