Located in Ota City Tokyo and established in 1950. The embroidered ceremonial flag has navy blue background with a gold and silver emblem in gold fringe. The university flag has blue background with a yellow and white emblem. A logo flag is also in use. The university emblem was adopted by the University Council on June 13, 1972. The university emblem is a combination of the Japanese mussel, with its beautifully arranged 8-9 ribs radiating out representing the university was founded on the site of the Omori Shell Mound discovered by the American Morse and kanji 大学 and university. The name of the designer is Kiyoaki Wada, former director of the university's administrative office.
