Overview

The flag and the coat of arms of Marijampole city (Marijampole county - Marijampoles apskritis). The flag is drawn by me according to my personal observation. The coat of arms I drew according to the picture from the book: The Heraldry of Lithuania.

There is no "Marijampole City". The municipality with such name was abolished in 1999, when another municipality Marijampole District was divided and part of it joined with the city to actual "Marijampoles savivaldybe" (Marijampole municipality).
Virginijus Misiunas, 8 November 2009

On golden field St. George mounted on brown horse slays black dragon, saint's face and hands proper, armor and lance silver, cloak, panache and dragon's tongue red. Flag proportions 10:11, fringe is golden, finial is golden tip with knob and golden bands. The charge of arms granted in 1792 should symbolize protection of city together with country, because St. George is one of holy patrons of Lithuania.
