Presentation of Le François

Le François is a commune on the eastern shore of Martinique, with 16,100 inhabitants on 53.93 km².

Le François is known for its islets and its white bottoms (sandy shoals located in the open sea, one of the best known of which is called Josephine's Bath) protected by a coral reef and populated by fish. Habitation Clément, formerly called Habitation de l'Acajou, is a
former sugar plantation located in Le François. The current distillery was founded by Homère Clément after his purchase of the Habitation de l'Acajou in 1887. Clément rum quickly acquired an international reputation that it retains today.

Flag of Le François

The flag of Le François (observed in situ in February 2023; photo) can be seen on a roundabout at the entrance of the commune. It is white with the current logo, adopted in 2021.

A former flag with the previous logo could be observed in the same place before (photo).

Along with the flag of Le François and the French and EU flag, a white flag with a logo of Habitation Clément can be spotted on the roundabout.
