Blazon: På gull grunn eit svart låsskilt. In English: Or a lock plate sable.
Approved by the royal resolutioon of 27 November 1987 after a drawing by Daniel Rike [c2j88]
The wikipedia https://nn.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kviteseid_kommune explans that the lock plate is from a storehouse from Tveit of 1350 standing at the Kviteseid ethnopark. The design symbolizes building craft and traditions. http://www.ngw.nl/heraldrywiki/index.php?title=Kviteseid states that it "symbolises the long traditions of lockmaking and building in the area."
