Blazon: I gull tre svarte øksehoder i skrå rekke. In English: Or three axe blades sable in bend.
Approved by the royal resolution of 11 January 1991 after a drawing by Henry Tømmerås, the municipal cultural secretary at the time.

The Viking axes were chosen to represent the link the municipality has with the past, while three of them stand for the three municipalities that merged to form the current one in 1964.
