Sobolew commune flag

Sobolew - rural commune, Garwolin County, Mazowieckie Voivodship.
Sobolew is closely associated with the Kosciusko Insurrection of 1794 and is a site of the memorials to Gen.Thaddeus Kosciusko, the national hero of the United States, Poland and Lithuania.

Arms and flag adopted on January 12, 2006 (resolution # XXXII/176/2006).
"Arms: on the red shield, under the silver sabre (saber), the golden oak tree with sixteen leaves.
The sabre (saber) symbolizes participation of local people in the Kosciusko Insurrection and other battles for the independence of the country.
The oak tree (now only a trunk) is a monument recalling the fact Gen.Kosciusko rested there before the final battle of his Insurrection at Maciejowice, where he was captured wounded by the Tsarist Cossacks.
The sixteen leaves stand for the number of villages in the commune.
