Coat of arms

Shield Argent, a sword cross Gules in its centre superimposed by a scallop Or, in dexter base three wheat ears Or garnished and tied Gules, in sinister base a grapevine Purpure leaved Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "SÃO TIAGO DOS VELHOS.
Meaning:
Scallop and the red cross fleury in base fitchy are attributes of St. James the Elder respectively his knights' order.

São Tiago dos Velhos Commune is one of the four communes of the Arruda dos Vinhos municipality (q.v.); it had 1518 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 16.2 km².
