About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plainwhite field.

Coat of arms

Shield Vert with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a porticus Argent masoned Sable between a pair of keys - one Argent the other Or - crossed per saltire and tied gules in chief and a triple mount Argent issuant from base. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "RIBA DE MOURO".
Meaning:
The base wavy is representing Mouro River, the name of the commune means "bank of Mouro". The crossed keys are an attribute of St. Peter, probably the local patron saint.

Riba de Mouro Commune is one of the 24 communes of the Monção municipality (q.v.); it had 964 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 13.9 km².
