Coat of arms

Shield Azure, a labarum Argent charged with a throughout cross Gules and fixed on a golden pole topped by a cross, flanked by two fish respectant Argent, in base a grapevine Purpure leaved Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "FREGUESIA DE SÃO JOÃO DA PESQUEIRA".
Meaning:
Labarum and fish are canting elements, because the commune's name means "St. John of the fishing grounds". Especially the labarum is an attribute of the patron saint St. John the Baptist.

Coat of arms

Shield Or; two flax plants Vert, crossed in base per saltire, seeded Or; in chief a dove Argent nimbed Gules; all between two impaired pales Azure, each one charged with a pallet Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "VÁRZEA DE TREVÕES".
Meaning:
The nimbed dove is representing the Holy Spirit, being the patron of the commune.
