The Ministry of Work and Social Planning of El Salvador (Ministerio de
Trabajo y Previsión Social - MTPS) has its roots in the Law on Occupational
Accidents, issued on 11 March 2011 by a Legislative Decree. The Work Cabinet was
established on 2 March 1927, to be assigned on 3 February 1934 to a State
Secretariat under the Ministry of Government. After the foundation of the
Ministry of State by Executive Decree No. 282, issued on 22 December 1945, the
Secretariat was renamed to Ministry of Work, Industry and Agriculture, soon to
be separated as Ministry of Work and Social Planning.
The Work National Department was prescribed by Legislative Decree No. 321, issued on 12 January 1946.
The flag of MTPS is white with the ministry's emblem, made of the minister's name above the government's emblem.
