The party

Afek Tounes (آفاق تونس - Tunisia's Horizons) was established on 28 March 2011 by Mohamed Louzir, as a "liberal social party". The party was a founding member of Al Joumhouri (Republican party), established in April 2012, from which it withdrew in August 2013 to create the "new" Afek Tounes.

The party obtained 76,488 votes (1.9%; 8th most voted party) in the 2011 general election, securing 4 seats (out of 217) in the new Constituent Assembly. It obtained 102,916 votes (3.0%; 5th most voted party) in 2014, securing 8 seats in the Assembly of the People's Representatives. The party signed in 2018 the Carthage Agreement that led to the establishment of the Government of National Union; Afek Tounes withdrew in January 2018 from the Carthage Agreement.
In the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections, Afek Tounes supported the candidate representing Nidaa Tounes.

The flag

The flag of Afek Tounes is white with the Party's logo.

The logo of Afek Tounes, inaugurated in August 2013, is based on the hamsa, aka the Hand of Fatima, a traditional symbol that repels curses and chase the evil eye.
