The party

Machrouu Tounes (مشروع تونس - Tunisia's Project) was established on 20 March 2016 by Mohsen Marzouk (b. 1965) and former members of Nidaa Tounes. Appointed Secretary General of Nidaa Tunes in May 2015, Marzouk resigned in December 2015 under the pressure of the Essabsi clan. He was officially named President of Machrouu Tounes on 14 April 2019.

In the 2019 presidential election, Marzouk was the 18th (out of 25) most voted candidate (7,376 votes; 0.22%). In the general election that followed, the party obtained 40,869 votes (1.42%), securing 4 seats (out of 217) at the Assembly of the People's Representatives.
