The building featured on the logo is the Governor's Office, also featured on the emblem of the Kastamonu City Council.

The building was inaugurated on 1 September 1901 during the celebration of the 25th anniversary of enthronement of Sultan Abdul Hamid II. The noted architect Vedat Tek, who also designed the old Parliament in Ankara, the Izmir clock tower and the Ministry of Post and Telegraph in Istanbul, was commissioned to replace the old, wooden building that had been inaugurated in 1833.
