About the flag

This is a recently observed flag with political connotations. One of our neighbors has recently begun flying a defaced American flag to show his support for gun owners' rights and the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution. For those who may be unaware, the 2nd Amendment specifically addresses gun ownership in the United States and the "right to bear arms." This is a hotly debated topic in the American political scene. Suffice it to say that a number of defaced American flags are currently for sale across the Internet for supporters of gun ownership to show their allegiance. In each case that I've seen so far, including the one our neighbor flies, the base flag is the 13-star "Betsy Ross" design, but with "2ND" in white in the middle of the circle of stars, the word "AMENDMENT" in bold lettering on the second white stripe, and the text of the 2nd Amendment in a cursive script covering the remaining white stripes.

The image above is an example of the variant that our neighbor flies, taken from the Amazon sale page (https://www.amazon.com/Amendment-American-Banner-Rights-Patriot/dp/B08QW7Y1S1/) and modified for FOTW. Regarding this particular variant, as our neighbor proudly showed me, the print job on the nylon fabric is intended to make the flag appear "grainy" and smudged in places. Other variants for sale seem to show the same kind of print treatment.
