The seal consist of a blue ring with a smaller white ring inside of it. The establishment and incorporation date are inscribed at the top of the seal. The state name is inscribed at the bottom with two white stars which are followed by two white curved lines. Overlying the seal is a blue banner with a white outline. It has the city name inscribed on it. In the center of the seal are two different scenes which are divided by the banner. The top scene includes a sun over some brown mountains. It dominates over a white silhouette of a city. In the foreground are fields, roads, and a railroad featuring a steam locomotive. On the lower scene is a grassy field with a tree in the middle. The silhouettes of people in different colors are represented for the unity and community of the city.

"The City of Maricopa, Arizona, adopted its flag in 2008. Its designer is the city public relations spokesperson Jennifer Grentz. To design the city's new flag Grentz developed a color scheme and overlaid it with images developed by the Pat Davis Design Company for the city's branding initiative. Maricopa Mayor Anthony Smith and Councilman Edward Farrell gave the flag its final approval." - from: www.inmaricopa.com/Article/2008/09/14/city-introduces-maricopa-flag
