Description of the flag

The town seal on the flag of Andover was introduced in 1855 and was modified 4 times, most recently in 1951. The Town Seal Review Committee was charged in 2021 to study and review the seal, provide background on why the seal is in its current form, obtain community input, and work with a designer to draft alternative seals. The Town Meeting held on April 29, 2024, voted to adopt a new town seal showing the Old Town Hall; a row of eastern white pines; “1646,” the year of incorporation; the word “Cochichewick,” the Indigenous name for Andover and the surrounding region; and two “wisdom curls,” a symbol featured on the Pennacook Abenaki flag.
