The seal is a red ring with the town name and date on it. In the center of the seal is a white disc with the American and Maryland flag crossing each other behind an apple tree. At the bottom are three figures, a steam tractor, a colonial-style home, and a plough.

The “American” flag in the seal has 15 stripes and, presumably 15 stars, which was the existing flag of the United States from 1795 until 1818.

This is the same time period as the initial founding of the town in 1812 by Christopher Smith.
