West Chester Adopts New Flag
Mar 21, 2019
Wednesday night the West Chester Borough Council officially adopted a new flag. The flag consists of a light blue background with a plaid yellow pattern of six yellow lines intersecting. The lines are to represent the six original streets in the Borough. The vote was 4 to 2 in favor of the flag. Councilmen Bill Scott and Don Braceland voted against the flag, stating that it is not historically accurate and doesn’t represent the history of the Borough in any way. The flag was designed after Council authorized a contest through the newly appointed Art Commission.
Paul Bassinson, 11 May 2019

The now-official blue and gold flag requires some explanation. In many ways it resembles the Swedish flag. The new flag recognizes the history, walkability, community and culture of West Chester, proponents said. Depicted with a slanted grid pattern are the first six streets of the borough: Chestnut, Gay, Market, Church, High and Walnut streets.

I have a photo of the previous flag of the Borough of West Chester, PA - blue with a gold seal.

Since the image Vanja found was probably of a small desktop flag, the full-size flag probably looked a bit different. I suspect the gold seal should look more like the full-color seal, with greater detail and a different angle for one of the 4-leaf clovers.
