According to the history page of the Bay Shore Yacht Club, www.bsyc.com/uploads/BSYC_History.pdf, the original Bay Shore Yacht Club was organised in 1883, re-organised in 1890 and dissolved in 1897. I found no information on a burgee.

In 1889 the Great South Bay Yacht Club was formed.

In 1896, as a splinter from the Bay Shore Yacht Club, the Penataquit Corinthian Yacht Club was formed, apparently for reason of incompatible characters. In 1898 it absorbed the GSBYC. After this, in 1983, Lloyd's Register for American Yachts, documents the burgee of the PCYC as as an approximately 6:11 tribar triangle, red over blue, with a five-pointed white star on the blue. . Whether this had been the burgee of the Penataquit Corinthian all along, or whether it had been brought in by the GSBYC in the merger, where the PCYC brought in the name, I can't tell. The Penataquit Corinthian dissolved in 1909, apparently again for reason of incompatible characters.

The next year, in 1910, the Bay Shore Motor Boat Club was organised. It inherited part of the members of the PCYC, but it was a new club, with a different purpose: Power boats were in vogue and the new club was orientated towards this new form of recreation. The club was incorporated in 1912. In 1917, Lloyd's Register of American Yachts shows the burgee of the club as an approximately 2:3 triangle, red before blue, divided by a wide white flyward chevron.

At that point, generally speaking, the enthusiasm for power-boating was fading, and it's likely that the focus of the club already would have shifted toward yachting. The club used the vacant name of "Bay Shore Yacht Club" informally for a while, as well as "Bay Shore Yacht and Motor Boat Club ", until in 1928 the former became the official name. The burgee did not change. This club established in 1910 is the current Bay Shore Yacht Club, still with the same burgee.
