Aweil State

Flag

Aweil State was established on 2 October 2015 by presidential decree; this decree being revoked (and later disestablishing the state) on 22 February 2020. From my investigation, the existence of a flag is not impossible, as state government meetings show multiple desk flags: one of them might have been the State Flag, but the details on the image are too blurry to make out any details.

Emblem

It is unclear when the state emblem was adopted, but it is clearly based on the emblem of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, which it was a part of before 2015. The emblem of Aweil State is in practice the same as the Northern Bahr el Ghazal state emblem; it had a black outline of an oval, in which a black crowned crane, as found in the region, steps over grass as a symbol of the environment. Above the oval is a yellow ribbon which reads the state name in Arabic. Surrounding this oval are two green branches for prosperity extending from a yellow ribbon, having in it two sections and two brown circles to its sides. The upper section of the ribbon reads Aweil State.
