Poppenricht Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Argent an angel statant Gules, at sinister Azure a grain ear Or, base parted per pale of Azure and Argent and charged with hammer and mallet Sable.
Meaning:
The partition per pale is alluding to the fact that the current municipality was established in 1968 by a merger of Poppenricht proper and Traßlberg. The angel is St. Michael, recognisable by his attribute, a sword flambant. He is patron saint of Poppenricht. Ear, hammer and mallet are taken from the former municipal arms of Traßlberg. They are representing the main business lines, agriculture and mining , as the Maxhütte in Sulzbach-Rosenberg had been the most important employer of the municipality. The tools are also referring to the hammer mill of Poppenricht, which was changed to a grinder of mirrors in 1817 and to a sawmill in 1909. The tinctures white and blue are those of Bayern.
