Zandt Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a castle Argent on triplemount Vert, on dexter chief an inescutcheon Sable charged with a fess fracted Argent.
Meaning:
Zandt Castle is the landmark of the namesake village and became thus part of the municipal arms. The Lords of Zandt lived in the village since the 13th century as commissionaires of the Bishopric of Regensburg. In 1382 the Sattelberger kin gained the village as a fiefdom of the bishopric. The kin was succeeded by different other families, among those the Lords of Gleißenthal, represented by the inescutcheon, who ruled the village from 1536 until 1851. The mount is referring to the location in the Bavarian Forest. The tinctures white and red are those of the bishopric.
