Heimsheim Coat of Arms

Shield Vert, two grain ears Or in saltire and issuant from orle.
Meaning:
Meaning: Though mentioned as a city since 1295, it gained city rights probably at the beginning of the 14th century, granted by the Palatine Count of Tübingen. Since the beginning of the 16th century the all essential rights were owned by Württemberg. Emperor Friedrich III confirmed the city rights in 1456. Since then the city used proper seals. Prints existed since 1481. The current pattern of the arms basically never changed since then. The ears are punning, as harvesting is called "heimsen" in the local language. The ears were erroneously depicted as reversed arrows, among others by Siebmacher (1605) but also in 1585 and 1902. In 1604 the ears had been painted as issuant from a triplemount. The tinctures were replaced by those of Württemberg, i.e. black and golden, in 1596, but the original tinctures were restored in 1966.
