Bernau Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a housemark Vert, issuant from base a triplemount Azure, charged with two barrulets wavy Argent.
Meaning:
Triplemount and bars wavy are referring to the location on the banks of the Chiemsee and the slopes of the Chiemgau Mountains. The triplemount had also been part of the family arms of the Lords of Aschau, to which the village belonged until the 14th century. The housemark is the sign of the local Seiser family, innkeepers for many generations. Christien Seiser (died 1520) and his son Martin in 1518 built a road between Bernau and Weisheim and a column, charged with the housemark. The colour of the housemark is unknown, but later green was chosen in order to stress the rural character of the village.
