Herrsching Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a fess wavy Argent, above Azure a gull volant Argent, beneath lozengy of Argent and Azure.
Meaning:
Fess wavy and gull are alluding to the location on the shores of the Ammersee, a lake. The village was first mentioned as a settlement of fishermen in 776 as Horscaninga. It was a possession of the Schlehdorf Monastery. The lozenges are taken from the Wittelsbach arms. They are stressing that the village and the bank of the lake were acquired by the Dukes of Bayern in 1248, after their predecessors, the Counts of Andechs-Meranien, had died out.

The banner has never been approved officially. The epithet "am Ammersee" was approved on 4 December 1954 by Minister of Interior of Bayern together with the arms.
