Introduction

The flag of Vigo (Galician capital) can be seen here.

Jarig Bakker, 02 Sep 2008

The municipal flag of Vigo is ~5:7, divided per saltire white over red with the municipal CoA very small overall.

The background comes from the Vigo Maritime Province registration ensign, as noted by José Carlos Alegría on 10 Nov 1999.

See the source page for the flag image, including also a big image of the CoA, a PDF document with background information on the flag and CoA and vector (Freehand and WMF formats, compressed zip archives) images of the CoA. The website http://hoxe.vigo.org/ is the official site of the Municipality (Concello), so these images are the official ones.

O branco ós laterais e o vermello enriba e abaixo.
Aprobado no Pleno de 7 de abril de 1987.

The official flag consists of two colors, white and red, in saltire. The white is lateral and the red atop and below.
Approved in meeting of 7 April 1987.

The images at Heráldica Municipal de Pontevedra are identical to António's, but the colors are oddly dark; I think it is unintentional. The flag shown is 2:3 instead of António's 5:7.

Coat of Arms

[Municipality of Vigo (Pontevedra Province, Galicia, Spain)]
image adapted from provincial website, 11 Jun 2009

The CoA shows a castle and an tree on a island, and bears a royal crown. Exact depictions of the CoA vary.

In a light blue field, a castle with a square base supporting a crenelated tower, all gold; at the bottom a door with half-point arch, two rectangular windows midway up and two medium embrasures, also rectangular, on the turret [total nonsense – the windows are all arched, and those aren't embrasures]. Obscuring part of the castle on its left an olive tree vert with a brown trunk. All on an sienna islet upon a sea of six wavy bands of sea-blue. A bordure gules, separated by a small white band. Surmounted with closed royal crown.
Approved in meeting of 7 April 1987.
