Symbolism (Old Flag)

From: http://city.pohang.kyongbuk.kr/english/guide.html

The whole shape of this mark symbolizes the lofty ideal and indefinite development of the unified city, Pohang, Which will play a leading role in a northward interchange and the age of the Pacific Rim in the future. In upper part the figure of the bird means the bright future of the three pillars of fire suggests the unified Pohang, prospering into the world, with centering around iron industry. In the central part the oval contains the meaning of the combination and the unity of the unified city, Pohang.
