Coat of arms

[Marinha Grande commune CoA] image by Sérgio Horta,

The arms are Or three glassmaker's rods Gules handled Sable turned downwards and set in counterbend and fess and bend surrounded by five pine cones Vert set two and two and one and base wavy Vert charged with a barrulet wavy Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "FREGUESIA DE MARINHA GRANDE".
Meaning:
The glassmaker's rods refer to the local importance of glassmaking industry, the pine cones share the meaning of those in the municipal arms (q.v.), and the green wavy counterchief refers to the sea, being thus a canting element ("marinha" = "salty marsh") absent in the municipal arms.

Flag and coat of arms adopted and published in the official journal Diário da República: III Série in 2003.01.24.
