Municipal flag of Kranjska Gora

The flag and arms of Kranjska Gora are prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu in zastavi Občine Kranjska Gora, adopted on 22 November 1995 and published in the local official gazette Uradni vestnik Gorenjske 5/96, with effect on the 15th day after publication in the official gazette.

The symbols were designed by Valt Jurečič of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images shown on this page were made.

The flag is rectangular, in proportions 2:5, vertically divided in three fields, the first and third are (cobalt) blue and the middle one is square of yellow colour. It contains the bird from the coat of arms, prescribed to be not not lower then 70% of the hoist and not higher than 90% of it.

The colour specifications, not included in the Decision, are given by Stanič & Jakopič [j2s05] as:
- Light yellow: Pantone 109
- Golden yellow: Pantone 1225
- Green: Pantone 355
- Blue: Pantone 300
- Red: Pantone 185
- Black: Pantone Black.

The coat of arms of Kranjska Gora is "Or on a base vert standing a black grouse azure with feathers and tail sable".
The black grouse (Lyrurus tetrix or Tetrao tetrix L.) is a protected bird chosen as symbol of the region. The blue colour of the bird is called "cobalt blue" in the Decision.
Valt mentioned that in Slovene the bird is called rusevec. In artistic representation, the red crest and the white mark on the wings are added, but they are not blazoned.
