The flag

The flag was adopted sometime in 2019 after a rebranding

The flag is a vertical rounded bi-color field of blue and yellow. In the yellow field is a blue lamppost with 16 rays extending from the center of it. This lamppost resembles the lampposts that are used throughout downtown Montgomery.

The seal is a blue ring with an outer red ring. The city name is presented on the first half of the ring. Underneath is the motto which states: "A CHARMING PAST. A GLOWING FUTURE" The centerpiece of the seal is the same glowing lamppost found on the flag.

Ms. Connie Gaylor, the city clerk of Montgomery, provided me with the City of Montgomery Brand Guidelines. She said that the logo-based flag was not officially adopted as the city flag. The guidelines state, "The City flag embodies the spirit of Montgomery with the striking display of the iconic lamppost and its bright far-reaching glow. Emblazoned with Lamplight Gold and deep Montgomery Blue, this flag is a beacon of progress to fly for a vibrant future."

Before 2019, the city used a flag which was the former city logo on a white bedsheet.
