The emblem features Eight-Deer Jaguar Claw as depicted in the "Nutall Codex". Eight-Deer was a Mixtec king unified all Mixtec lands: Tilantongo in the Mixteca Alta, Teozacualco in the Mixteca Baja, and Tututepec in the coastal area of the Mixteca, between 1097 and 1115 c. e.
